Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu 6 days and 5 nights return by bus to Cusco last day

Day 1- Cusco – Mollepata – Challacancha – Soraypampa – Lake Humantay — distance 12 klm (5 hours travel)

We will pick you up from your hotel between 4:20 a.m. to 4:50 a.m. then we will drive to the town of Mollepata which is located at a height of 2900mt-9514 ft which is at a distance of 2.horas approximately from Cusco where We will take a rest for about 20 minutes. Then we will continue our journey towards the place of challacancha which is the beginning of the walk that has as a height 3600 mt-11500 ft. Then we will have approximately 5 hours of travel until arriving at the base of the camp called soraypampa that has as height 3912 mt -12834 ft, where we will have a lunch enjoying the panoramic view of the mountains and its geography as -the snowy of humantay 4200 mt-13779 Ft and also the snowfall of the salkantay 6271 mt-20575 ft after a rest we will make an acenso for 1 hour towards the lake Humantay and then we will return to the base of the camp where we will have the time of the tea and also the dinner.

Day 2- Soraypampa – Salkantay pass – Huayrapunku – Chaullay — distance 22 klm (9 hours travel)

This is the most difficult day, for this reason we wake up at 5:00 am and breakfast will be 5:30 am our walk will start at 6:00 am, to make an acenso for about 3 hours to reach the passage of salkantay 4630 Mt-15190 ft, where we will have a traditional Andean ceremony with the whole group, then we will make a descent to the place of huayrapunku 3912 mt-12834 ft where we will have a lunch and then we will continue towards the second camp chaullay -2900 mt -9514 ft

Day 3- Chaullay – Sahuayo beach – Santa Teresa — distances 15 klm (6 hours travel)

We will start the day at 6:00 am and breakfast at 6:30 am, then starting the trek in a high jungle with a very beautiful geography of rivers, waterfalls where we can appreciate flora and fauna of this place as orchids coffee and coca plantations, fruit trees bananas papaya avocado granadilla and birds like r, hummingbird, parrots and cock of the rocks, etc. To reach Sahuayo beach 2064 mt – 6771 ft – where we will have a lunch and then continue towards Santo Teresa 1500 mt-5085 ft – where the last camp is located and then we will go to the thermal baths (optional activity)

Day 4- Holy teresa – Hydroelectric – Aguas calientes (pueblo machupicchu) – distance 15 Klm (6 hours travel)

We will start the day at 6:30 am and breakfast at 7:00 am, then we will begin the trek for approximately 3 hours with an 1890 mt -6200 ft hydroelectric direction – where we will have our lunch then we will continue the trek for about 3 more hours skirting the mountain From Machupicchu and appreciating part of the sanctuary of Machupicchu and following the route of the train until arriving at Aguas Calientes 2050 mt -6725 ft-where we will have a private hostel included and the last dinner

Day 5- Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu full day — distance 5 klm (1 hour ½ travel)

This day we will start very early 4:00 am the first part of the trip is flat for ½ hour and for 1 hour is ascent toward the machupicchu where we will arrive at approximately 6 am to be able to see the sunrise and have the exploration of the machupicchu with Our guide for an average of 2 hours and then have free time to do your personal exploration you.

And they also have enough time to do extra activities like the ascent to the mountain of the huaynapicchu or to the mountain of the machupicchu because you will not have a time limit for your stay in machu picchu.

The Inca citadel of Machu Picchu closes at 5.00pm in which you will be descending for 1 hour and a half hour of flat walk to reach Aguas Calientes and have the second night of hostel included.

Day 6- Aguas Calientes – Hidroelectrica – Cusco — 8 klm (3 hours hike)

Then from 10.00 am an 11:00am we have to leave machu picchu to start our trek for 3 more hours towards the hydroelectric where we will board our bus to return to Cusco.

The return is included by bus from the hydroelectric outlet at 2:45 pm and arriving in Cusco between 9 pm and 10 pm (approximately 6 hours).

Transportation to return to Cusco on the last day of the tour.

For entrance tickets to Machu Picchu they have 3 different options:

  1. first option: entrance ticket to Machu picchu (this option is included for all tours).
  2. second option: entrance ticket to machu picchu + Huaynapicchu Mountain.
  3. third option: entrance ticket to machu picchu + Mountain Machupicchu

Tickets for these 3 options are valid for one day only.
“For example” It is impossible to do with the same entrance ticket one day machu picchu visit and the other day huaynapicchu.
For example” You can not do with the same ticket huaynapicchu and mountain Machupicchu because the 3 options of entry to Machu Picchu are clear and specific.
