FAQs Frequently asked questions of our travelers

Travel to the Coricancha or Qoricancha temple – Cusco – Peru: The Coricancha It was the most important temple of the Tahuantinsuyo inka, built in the city of Cusco during the LATE HORIZON, that is, the imperial stage of Inca history. The Coricancha is a beautiful sacred precinct that the Inca Pachacútec ordered to be built after his victory over the Chancas, in the year 1438. Before that, the Incas worshiped the Sun in a small temple called Inticancha, built by Manco Capac. In the Coricancha (“Golden Enclosure”) lived the Willac Umu, highest priest of the god Inti (the Sun) who, together with the tarpuntaes, was in charge of the astronomical tasks and main religious ceremonies of the Inca Empire – Peru Operator. It is important to bear in mind that within the sacred complex there are rooms destined to worship other divinities such as Wiracocha, Illapa or Mama Quilla. Inside the temple, the main deities and the wonderful flora and fauna of Peru were represented in gold, silver and tumbaga. . These sculptures, delicately carved by goldsmiths of Chimú origin, were looted by the Spanish conquerors who arrived in Cusco in 1533. Currently, the majesty of the Coricancha Temple is appreciated by thousands of tourists each year who are amazed at its finely carved stone architecture – Oki doki Operator. Travel to Qenco or Qenqo – Cusco: What most impresses us when arriving at Qenco is the enormous carved stone block that is believed to have been used to store chicha, a corn drink consumed during worship. Entering this complex of tunnels and underground galleries, adorned with Inca deities, we will arrive at a circular patio in the center of which stands a stone or Wanka that could represent an image – Oki doki Operator. Travel to Puca Pucara or Puka Pukara – Cusco: Puca Pucara gets its name in Quechua from “Red Fortress”, due to the red color that the rocks acquire during the twilight. Puca Pucara is another sample of military architecture that also functioned as an administrative center, and invites us to visit its platforms, superimposed terraces, stairways and passageways where mythical characters of the Inca empire traveled – Oki doki Operator. Travel to the Sacsayhuamán Fortress – Cusco: If what we want is to exercise, getting to this impressive military fortress of the Incas on foot will take us 25 minutes and 10 minutes by car. Located two kilometers from Cusco, Sacsayhuamán is a complex of granite platforms that communicate with each other by stairs and doors. From the top of a hill, this fortress jealously protected the capital of the empire. In addition, its fame lies in the amazing precision with which the stone blocks that make it up are joined. They also say that its construction required the work of 20,000 men and it took more than seven decades to build it. Let’s pay attention to the ingenious detail in its architecture, as this imposing fortress represented the head of a puma, an animal that symbolized Cusco during the empire. Also noteworthy are the Rodadero, an outcrop of natural rock, and the Throne of the Inca – Oki Doki Operator. Travel to Thanpumach’ay or Tambomachay – Cusco: Throughout the territory of Cusco, especially in the so-called Antisuyo quadrant, there are numerous architectural and archaeological remains, the Thanpumach’ay ravine or Tambomachay in its Castilianized form being one of the repositories where there are still excellent examples of architecture and engineering belonging to the Incas, being able count among its extensions: wakas, funerary contexts, canal systems associated with terraces, reservoirs and roads, many still in use – Peru Operator. All the pre-Hispanic evidence constitutes a complex magical-religious system and due to its physical-spatial characteristics, they were elements used in rituals that had the purpose of venerating nature considered as Mother or Pacha mama; rituals that combined sacred practices with astronomical knowledge, whose results or data obtained by measurement or observation, were used in agricultural practice – Cusco Operator.
