– Throughout the city there are more than 600 terraces or platforms, which not only had agricultural purposes but mainly served as wedges to prevent landslides.
– More than a simple agricultural space, the fitting out of the agricultural sector was a work that subjected the food function to the demands of aesthetic values.

– WAREHOUSES: Colcas or warehouses at the entrance of the agricultural area, are located in a staggered manner.
– CORRALS OF LLAMA: Since many organic remains of auquénidos have been found, it is believed that, in the Andean style, these were rectangular enclosures with narrow entrances where these animals were confined.
– WATCHHOUSE: Located at the top of the agricultural area, it enjoys great views of the citadel. Nearby there is a cemetery and a ceremonial rock.
3) URBAN AREA OF MACHU PICCHU:
– THE SECTORS OF THE INKA CITADEL: The Inca Empire came to carry out an extraordinary work of architecture that can still be seen in the ruins of Machu Picchu. The great architectural design and planning of Machu Picchu made possible the fantastic structuring in a series of urban sectors in which the citadel was divided.
– SUN TEMPLES: The Temple of the Sun is located in the urban sector and can be accessed through a huge gate built with double beams which had a closing mechanism as a protection and security measure. Most experts agree that this would have been an important temple in Machu Picchu, that is, the shrine to the sun. F. Kauffman proposed that this structure known as “El Torreón” would have been a “cult construction, curved, perhaps alluding to the sea snail (Strombus) with which water was evoked”.
– INTIHUANTANA PYRAMID: It is located in the Hanan sector of the urban area. The exact location of the Intihuatana pyramid is located on the slopes of one of the hills that was designed to take a pyramidal shape.
